Review of Year 2022

In the blink of an eye, 2022 has come to an end, and a new chapter in 2023 has begun. Looking back on the past year, crises and opportunities, difficulties and progress have painted the speckled traces of art on the global-sized canvas, emitting the brilliant ray of the souls. This uncertain post-epidemic period often reminded us of the classic quote from the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, ” We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.” Covid epidemic, daily life and artistic creation were intertwined. With the firm support by our belief in art, we have pushed forward the Greater American Institute of Arts with flexible tactics. Art allows us to calm our minds in the midst of tremendous stress and chaos, and we have achieved remarkable progress and harvested abundant. If the meta of the metaverse means the origin of a “new world”, then its virtual world becomes the source of imagination and creativity of our minds. With the epidemics wax and wane, the spatial boundary between artworks and audience in the traditional sense has been reconstructed, which has led to the rise of online art exhibitions and virtual museums. In the virtual space of online exhibition, limitation of time and space is broken, the audience becomes popularized, the influence of art is amplified, the concept of artistic creation is resonated, and the spiritual universe of mankind is infinitely expanded. The Greater American Institute of Arts, in compliance with the trend of the contemporary times, adapted online virtual art exhibition approach, and presents to public the artworks in a poetic way, equivalent to the traditional one with an attitude beyond the imagination, trying to dialogue and blend transcending time, space and culture. We continuously enrich the art experience in exploration and innovation. Therefore, Greater American Institute of Arts focused on cloud exhibitions in 2022, to reach more audiences and allow them to get acquainted with our artists, understand their works and comprehend their creative concepts. We worked hard and promoted wonderful works from GAIA artists, and provided audiences at different levels with a better experience: more aesthetic views, meaningful reflection and better awareness.

In the Spring Festival time of 2022, “Beyond the Image: The 2022 First Academic Exhibition of Outstanding Works of Famous Chinese Artists in the World” came into being. The artists of the Greater American Institute of Art interweave Chinese and Western elements, learning from the frontiers of contemporary humanities and science, balancing the Western civilization and Chinese culture, self-discipline and freedom, prejudice and open-mindedness, leading to certain “consciousness” formation. Their efforts are a tribute to humanity and adhering to individual life principles. This exhibition covers a variety of painting media including oil painting, ink painting, calligraphy, printmaking, watercolor, sketch, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and installation. The artists of our research institute paid tribute to the masters from hundreds of years ago in the cloud and had a dialog virtually with the masters.【Beyond Image: The First Academic Exhibition by Famous Chinese Artists and Blessing Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022】
